Elaine Walsh Carney has more than 15 years of service to the nonprofit sector.  Her areas of expertise include facilitation of collaborative processes, creation and implementation of strategic plans, campaign management and execution, and volunteer engagement and support.

Prior to joining The Compass Group, Ms. Carney was the principal of Walsh Mediation, specializing in mediation, negotiation, and development strategy and implementation for nonprofits.

A graduate of St. Lawrence University, Ms. Carney has completed graduate work at Antioch University and the Harvard Program on Negotiation. She is also a graduate of Leadership Jackson Hole, a community leadership development program sponsored by the Jackson Hole Chamber of Commerce, and a member of the U.S. Institute of Environmental Conflict Resolution Roster through the Udall Center in Tucson, Arizona. She has taught conflict resolution and leadership skills to nonprofit volunteers and staff, students and school administrations, and has helped in the development of peer mediation programs in schools in Jackson, Wyoming and Portland, Maine.

Ms. Carney currently serves as co-chair of the National Outdoor Leadership School’s national advisory council. She is a founding member of One Percent for the Tetons—partner of the organization One Percent for the Planet—an alliance of businesses that donates one percent of their sales to fund conservation and sustainability initiatives in and around Grand Teton National Park.
